Quiet and Efficient Solutions for Senior Living Facilities, Dormitories, Apartments, Condos, Offices and Hotels
MINNEAPOLIS – May 10, 2010 – McQuay International today introduced one of the quietest and most efficient heating and air conditioning units available for maximum comfort in single-zone environments in multiple-floor buildings – McQuay Vertical Stack Water Source Heat Pumps. The introduction further expands McQuay’s diverse family of Water Source Heat Pumps and continues to advance the company’s offering of quiet, sustainable and energy efficient units. The newest vertical stack units are ideal for use in facilities such as senior living facilities, dormitories, apartments, condos, offices and hotels.
McQuay Vertical Stack Water Source Heat Pumps provide quiet operation and maximum comfort by minimizing vibration and noise transmission to the cabinet and wall structure with factory installed vibration isolators, integral to the chassis support rails. A compressor mass plate minimizes vibration from compressor to chassis and a compressor sound blanket is available for select sizes for noise sensitive applications. The units require little floor space with a footprint of just 18” x 18” or 24” x 24” for larger sizes, and are easy to conceal in a corner of the room.
“With efficiencies up to 15.7 EER, Vertical Stack Water Source Heat Pumps from McQuay are among the most environmentally and economically friendly on the market,” said Mike Paquette, product application manager at McQuay International. “They extend our commitment toward meeting market demand for quiet, efficient and environmentally conscious water source heat pumps.”
McQuay Vertical Stack Water Source Heat Pumps efficiency, on average, is 30 percent higher than ASHRAE 90.1 minimums for the year 2010 and exceed minimum thresholds for most utility rebate and incentive programs. All units use R-410A, an HFC refrigerant with no ozone-depletion potential. They are available in multiple unit sizes from 3/4 through 3 ton, 2.6kW through 10.6kW.
The units are also easy to install and service. They stack from floor to floor and utilize a single set of risers for simplified installation. The chassis, which includes the complete refrigerant circuit, slides into the cabinet, simplifying service and maintenance. When a chassis requires service, it can be replaced in a matter of minutes with a spare and serviced remotely.
Vertical Stack Water Source Heat Pumps are available with McQuay’s MicroTech® III Unit Controller with OpenChoices™ feature, making it easy to integrate these units with the building automation system of your choice. LonMark® (LonMark 3.4) and BACnet® communication modules are available as a factory or field-installed option. Also available is the T-9000 wireless thermostat which provides precise temperature control without the installation labor and expense of pulling wire.
