Units Meet Indoor Air Quality Standards, Improve Student Comfort and Reduce Energy Usage
MINNEAPOLIS – JULY 14, 2010 – McQuay International today introduces the AAF®-HermanNelson® ultra-quiet, self contained unit ventilators with R-410A refrigerant and two-stage compressors as standard features. The new units help school administrators keep expenditures to a minimum, while providing students and teachers with a comfortable, quiet and well-ventilated environment for optimal learning.
The new self contained unit ventilators are ideal for retrofits in primary education schools as they typically fit the same space occupied by existing units, lowering the capital costs. Multiple configurations allow specifiers to select the unit ventilator that best meets the application required. New two-stage compressors allow these units to run on lower fan speeds up to 70 percent of the time, improving comfort through better humidity control and quieter operation, while minimizing issues with over-sizing. The result is reduced annual energy usage, increased annual operating cost savings and reduced payback periods for projects.
“As the inventor of the unit ventilator, McQuay remains committed to meeting the changing requirements of schools with the highest quality of products available,” said Mike Paquette, product manager at McQuay International. “Like most horizontal and vertical unit ventilators sold by McQuay, these are inexpensive to install and operate, and they are designed and built to provide decades of trouble-free service.”
AAF-HermanNelson unit ventilators from McQuay deliver required amounts of fresh air to meet ventilation requirements prescribed in ASHRAE Standard 62.1-1999 and added cooling capacity to maintain consistent comfort for students and teachers. Control options, including Economizer Operation, Demand Control Ventilation (DCV) and Part Load, Variable Air allow school facilities managers to match classroom comfort requirements even more closely, and reduce operating costs.
